As the Lifetime Aaliyah movie “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B” continues to get weirder this new round of castings only complicates the sincerity of baby girls legacy and the people who impacted her career. A biopic is supposed to capture the true essence of the people involved…coming as close as possible to re-tale the story. After Disney star Zendaya bailed on the role (I’m sure do to angry fans and Aaliyah’s family respectively) a replacement filled that void by the name of Alexandra Shipp not to mention Wendy Williams and Co. signed on as executive producers.
Still on Lifetime the project can be looked at as going in the right direction…that was until I seen who they were casting next. Apparently this movie is all about presentation and good looks because who they have auditioned and picked for Missy Elliott and Timbaland is way off the mark…
According to TheWrap, Toronto actors Chattrisse Dolabaille and Izaak Smith have been cast as Missy Elliott and Timbaland, respectively. Dolabaille is a Hollywood newcomer, while Smith has made a name for himself on “So You Think You Can Dance Canada,” “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and other projects.
